24 hours post-move...

Minus the unbelievable pile to sort through in the garage, our house is looking pretty put together just 24 hours in! We are SOOOO thankful for everyone who helped us.

Seriously. They rocked it.

Here's the kitchen. We LOVE this kitchen. I might just actually make dinner in here. ;) Family room. Add some floating shelves where those brackets are and we'll be set! :)

Geeked Out...over wallpaper!!

I am officially completely geeked out over this amazing wallpaper! As I began my search for the perfect wallpaper, I began falling in love with beautiful things...that cost upwards of $150 a roll!

No dice.

Then one day while at Lowes, for maybe the millionth time in the past month, I found this. For...

$19 a roll!

This first picture is of the accent wall in the powder room. I originally thought I would wallpaper the whole room, but quickly came to the conclusion that it would make this tiny room feel even smaller.

Picture this with a white pedestal sink, commode (using the word toilet just didn't feel chic), and a swirly blue painted mirror.

Then I also decided to use this paper in the back of the pantry. I know what you're thinking. Why would you paper two walls that will be covered with cereal boxes and cans of soup?? I'll tell you why...

Because I can. :)

I love it. And have to give a big "Thank You" shout out to my mom-in-law who is the wallpaper queen! THANKS PATTY!! :)

A Few Little Peeks...

This is a little post with a few "peeks" at some more of the work going on in the house...here is our interior door style. White door, black knobs, black hinges...what's not to love??
Here is the dining room all ready for trim. Todd will install a really basic wainscotting to the bottom portion of the wall that will look amazing!

Here's a tiny peek at the hardwood floors. They look so great. They're a 5" plank hand-scraped hardwood with a good deal of distressing.

Here's an "in progress" pic of the kitchen. It's really shaping up!

And last, but not least...here are the concrete countertops. Love a little DIY countertop that is tackled after watching one youtube video and talking to a guy at the concrete shop!

They will turn out beautifully, I'm sure.

Well, there you have it. This weekend's agenda includes tile, kitchen cabinets, more tile, staircase banisters and even more tile!

Pray, if you would, for Todd. He's nearing the end of this project and he's worked so hard! He's tired, but we know the Lord will give him what he needs to stay focused to the end. Which is in 2 weeks!?!

More progress...

Here's the completed garage door...with hardware.
Looks awesome.
We also have paint on the walls and ceiling!
Tomorrow hardwood floors go in and then the rest of the finishes are completed...within the next 3 weeks!?!

Mud 'n' Tape...

It's coming together! The mudding and taping is taking a bit longer than we'd planned, but so worth it as this new subcontractor is doing a beautiful job! Hopefully we'll be ready to paint the interior by Monday or Tuesday...

What a difference some paint makes...

While we're still attempting to agree on the color for the shingles, we both agree that the house color is perfect! Any thoughts? One of us wants to paint them a light grey and one of us wants to leave them their natural color. Please leave your suggestions in the comments. :) *Oh, and we realize that Hailey's window still has no siding or paint on it. Todd has to take the window out today or tomorrow so they can deliver the 2nd floor sheet rock...

Lord, Bless our Home...

My sister came up with this brilliant idea of writing some of our favorite scripture in the sheeting of the house. This way, God's Word is literally in our home. We liked it.
Todd's DNA group (discipleship, nurturing & accountability) and their families, our parents and our long time and forever friend Mikey came to help. We prepared several verses to put in specific places and were so surprised to see how many other special scriptures others brought to add to the mix. There have to be at least 50 verses written through the house.

There are a ton more pictures, but blogger is having a fit this morning, so I'll post more later.

Update

Lots has been happening in the last couple of weeks since my last post...like, the addition of all of the roofing, windows and most of the siding. Inside there has been a lot of progress, but not much that makes much of an asthetic difference. Mostly wires, tubes and ducting in the walls. Here's the list of progress:

*Plumbing rough-in completed
*HVAC complete
*Electrical rough-in to be completed today
*Siding to be completed today.
* Windows installed
*One more really cool thing that I'll blog about later on today. :)
Once the electrical is finished we'll have several inspections and get it prepped for sheet rock.
It's coming right along! :)

Trusses Delivered...

We now have the last piece to the framing puzzle...the trusses. (For anyone who is construction illiterate like I was before I started actually paying attention to Todd, the trusses are those peaks that hold up the roof. :)The coolest part of the design of this house is that there are a bunch of areas that we'll be able to create "secret hiding places" for our kids.

See how the decking is about 1/6 of the way finished? Yeah. That's because I helped. It'd probably be close to finished if Todd's guys had done it. ;)

2nd Floor

Here's the view from the back. You can see the deck starting to take shape as well as the master bedroom and bath on the right. That tiny window will sit above the bathtub. Here's the front view. On the left side are the two smaller bedrooms and bathroom.
Roof trusses come tomorrow! Stay tuned. :)

First Floor Framed!

If you look closely you can see the beams above the walls that will support the 2nd floor. In fact, we should have 2nd floor walls up by the end of today!

Here's a rear-view. Basically, the deck is huge. Seriously, it's so much bigger than we imagined, but it'll be so great for having people over. And since we'll be covering more than half of it, we'll use it all year.

Check back soon!

We have a floor! Well, if you walk gingerly and try not to fall through...

The first floor joists are in place! Crazy. Did I mention that we broke ground 12 days ago?? A neighbor stopped by yesterday and asked Todd if he was planning to have the house ready for the annual 4th of July bash... ;) We wish...we're so ready to be settled in, but we've got a ways to go.Today the subfloor goes down and the guys will start framing the exterior walls. It's so crazy how fast this thing is going to start to take shape!!
Stay tuned! More to come...

Progress Report

We've made tons of progress this week and have even begun framing! See that there on the right? That's the family room. Pretty sweet, huh? You can also see on the left where the existing foundation sits. This will contain our basement office. As you can see, Todd doesn't mess around. He gets right to it. We anticipate the framing will be finished within the next 2-3 weeks.
Things are sure shaping up quickly!

Holes...

Did anyone even see this movie? Our property is now full of holes. Big ones. Foundation is ready to be poured.
My kids were thoroughly impressed by the size of the machine that dug the holes.

I know what you're thinking. Really? How anti-climactic?? BUT...stay tuned. We should be framing by the end of the week! :)
